Shearling Care Information

In order to avoid accidental damage of your .shearling coat or jacket you have to keep in mind a couple of things:

1. Don’t put your shearling near a fire place or other heat sources. It can over dry up the natural surface of your shearling and eventually damage the whole coat.

2. Never put your shearling in a washing machine or in a dryer. The shearling garments require only dry cleaning with the application of natural oil into the hides. Only deal with a professional dry cleaning service for suede or shearling. Please, ask them how they going to clean your coat. The necessary step in the process of the cleaning your shearling is putting the natural oil back into hides. Without this process the shearling will be over dried and eventually your coat will be damaged.
3. Hang your shearling using only a wide shoulder hangar. Never use a wire or a narrow shoulder hangar

4. Keep your shearling away from stain resistant treatments because it comes with a silicone which damages shearling coat. I would recommend Cavalier brand Protect-All which is a rain and stain repellent which does not change the color on the tender suede finish.

5. Avoid putting adhesive stickers on your shearling coat or jackets because it may leave a stain of glue or pull off some of the suede

6. Use only the breathable garment bags for the storing your shearling coats or jackets. The storing of your shearling coat in the plastic bags is unacceptable because your shearling need to breathe.  And also do not store it in direct sunlight because it can bleach the color of your shearling coat.

7. Do not leave your shearling or leather garments for a long time in a car during the rainy, hot weather. The result of it being wrinkled, heated and moisturized is the shirking and damaging the shape of your favorite shearling coat or jacket
